Google Wave is a new and promising technology that looks at email in a new way, and considering that email was invented 40 years ago, it’s about time. I can’t explain it to you in only a few sentences so look here for a great explanation. As you can see, a Google wave has many potential uses. Here are some of the possible uses as of now, and a few that I thought of.

Games

How I see it is that basically any type of game that can interpret text-based input can be played. Scratch that, why not just make a gadget with a GUI? For example, you could have an outside host, www.wavechess.com . They host the gadgets and store all the data that are shown on Google Wave.

Host a Party

This is already possible through the currently available gadgets (skip to about 55 seconds):

Spam

Unfortunately, there will always be spam. But I think that Google Wave will have greater control than ever before because all messages will be sent and received from their servers.

Your RSS Feed

Instead of having to go to a website to read your RSS Feeds, you could instead set up a wave that is continuously updated by the Feed.

Facebook and Twitter Updates

Recieve your Twitter and Facebook status updates, invitations, notifications right in a wave. Or recieve “emails” whenever a tag is mentioned, such as #googlewave.

Bye bye AIM

Instant messaging can say bye bye, because honestly there is no point for it anymore. Since Google Wave is live and instant, you my as well use Wave instead.

Study Groups

Google Wave is the best thing for students since speghettios (I probably spelled that wrong). For example, you and your classmates have a History test tomorrow. You all get on google wave and start quizing eachother, learning, giving hints and ways to remember things, etc. You realize that Mr. IThinkImSmart gives you all a hint, but it is wrong! What will we do? Well, since you don’t want anybody to get mixed up you quickly edit what he said to the truth.

Also, gadgets such as a translator would be useful.

Have Something Proofread

Need something proofread? Easy. Just send your essay or letter to your friends and tell theme to edit whatever they find wrong.

Google Wave Can Do Email

In other news, iPhone’s can make calls.

Conclusion

Google Wave is much more than email as you can see. I’m sure that there are a bunch more that I just haven’t thought of. If you think of one, please tell me!
